<p>•Pickup from your accommodations in Moshi and drive to Rongai gate for registration formalities</p><p>•Transfer to the route’s starting point at 1950 m above sea level</p><p>•Start climbing through corn fields leading to the rainforest </p><p>•The rainforest hosts a variety of wildlife including white colobus monkey</p><p>•The trail leads to Rongai cave in the evening</p><p>•Set camp for dinner and overnight stay</p><p></p>

<p>•Trek through the rainforest into the moorland zone </p><p>•The trail leads to Rongai’s second cave where you will break for lunch</p><p>•Proceed walking to finally arrive at Kikelewa camp in the evening</p><p>•Dinner and overnight stay at the camp</p><p></p>

<p>•Trek through the moorland zone into the alpine desert while noticing the vegetation change</p><p>•Proceed with the steep climb to reach Mawenzi tarn in the afternoon in time for lunch</p><p>•Take the rest of the day off resting for the next day </p><p></p>

<p>•Trek through barren volcanic landscape to the lunar desert of the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo</p><p>•Arrive at Kibo hut around mid day where you will break for lunch</p><p>•Get time to rest and take much water in preparation for the summit</p><p>•It’s recommended to sleep early by 07:00 p.m</p><p></p>

<p>•Wake up around 23:30 for a hot cup of coffee and putting on trekking gears </p><p>•By midnight, transfer to the base of the mountain for the final summit attempt</p><p>•Hike through the volcanic scree to reach Gilman’s point at 5700 m</p><p>•Rest a while and make the final 1:30 hour round trip to Uhuru peak (Africa’s highest peak)</p><p>•Get time for photographs while feeling accomplished standing at the roof of Africa</p><p>•After much celebrations and rest, start descending to reach Horombo hut in the evening</p><p>•Dinner and overnight stay at the camp</p><p></p>

<p>•Have breakfast and go for a short walk to finally reach Marangu gate</p><p>•Upon arrival, show appreciation to the team by tipping them</p><p>•Get awarded with certificates whereby golden certificates are given to hikers who reached Uhuru peak and green certificates for Gilman’s point hikers</p><p>•Drive to Moshi/Arusha for much celebrations or a flight back home </p><p></p>
